Welcome!

Inquiry We have already started our work on the Representative Inquiry with District and Demographics. The other components for this inquiry you will be focusing SOLELY on the FEDERAL Representatives/Senators. For the opening activity you will look at the current Senate Race - decide what type of voter you MIGHT be (you are allowed to grow, change, and develop as an individual - so a single issue voter might not vote on the same issue their whole life, or a multi-issue voter might vote for various issues each election instead of set ones; nothing is set in stone) and explain your choices. You will then analyze EITHER the Representative or one of the Senators that is currently in office for the remainder of the inquiry (you can switch between them for each part or you can stick with the same person). Please remember I am at PD on Monday so if you have a question, send me an e-mail, but I may or may not be able to respond based on what is going on in my training.

TIA Please make sure for the TIA it is a matter that would be handled at the federal level. We have really begun to start thinking about Expressed versus Reserved Powers (you did a chart last week). If it is something the state is responsible for, then that wouldn't be something to write your federal representation about (unless you are looking to test the boundaries in making it a federal issue).

Court Cases You will receive the paper for your Court Cases Mini-Project this week. You will be graded on your poster as well as your presentation of it. There will be a document camera in the front of the room so you will show off your poster while people are writing. PLEASE make sure you get the Court Case down to the specifics for your poster. Don't write in paragraphs! You will speak in details about your case, but you will only have your classmates write the components that are necessary (we will discuss this further in class on Wednesday).
