Welcome!

Greetings! We are starting Unit One technically on day one (the scenarios will review types of government which your test will also have on it), but notes/content wise we will be beginning on Thursday. Please make sure you have a binder or a method in which you are going to take notes in mind. On the first day you will specify if you would like graphic organizers or not, if you opt not to use them (that's fine), but you will need to have your own plans in mind. Note that digital notes will not be allowed to be used on binder quizzes.

Binder Quizzes At the end of each semester, you traditionally take the binder quiz, which is an open binder quiz based off of all the notes you have taken over the course of the semester, it typically helps get you in the frame of mind of reviewing for final exams, but last year it was difficult to grade all binder quizzes in enough time. This semester the binder quizzes will be occurring sporadically each unit. Please make sure you have your notes with you every day. If not, hopefully since it is occurring during/shortly after a unit, it'll still be fresh on your mind.

InquiriesIf you had World History last year, you may remember inquiries were created by the county and mandated by the state in the new standards (If you were in Sociology, inquiries were not been added to those standards and thus you won't have had them yet). Civics is no different than World, and so each unit we have an inquiry that needs to be completed as well. The majority of the inquiry will occur during class time, but the Taking Informed Actions always have a week to complete them, as they are a mini-test grade. We will complete a component of our inquiry on Friday and then finish the rest of it on Tuesday of next week.
